The arrival of the Peruvian company Peruvian Fashion Tex (PFTEX Colombia SAS) in Medellín marks an important step in consolidating the city as a strategic destination for foreign investment in Latin America. With operations launched in April 2024, this company, dedicated to importing and marketing high-quality Peruvian fabrics, has found in Medellín the ideal place to expand and contribute to local economic development by strengthening the textile sector.

According to Stephanie Quispe, legal representative and general manager of the company, the decision to establish operations in the capital of Antioquia was motivated by several factors: the growth of tourism in Colombia, the high demand for textile products, the strong appreciation in the country for Peruvian fabrics, and especially Medellín’s strategic location for both national and international distribution.

“Our goal is to have a strong impact on the textile sector, offering excellent quality fabrics at affordable prices. Medellín is a key city due to its export vocation and favorable business environment,” she stated.

With an investment of approximately USD 200,000, which includes leasing of premises, acquisition of assets, and import logistics, PFTEX Colombia has created direct employment and has plans for national expansion. In the medium term, the company aims to become the largest importer of Peruvian fabric in Colombia, expanding to other cities and offering a robust portfolio for manufacturers, distributors, and wholesale clients.

For ACI Medellín, the arrival of Peruvian Fashion Tex not only represents a significant economic investment but also a commitment to the sustainable growth of the local productive ecosystem.

“Medellín continues to position itself as a reliable and attractive territory for foreign companies seeking to grow in Latin America. Every new company that arrives, like Peruvian Fashion Tex, is a clear sign that our city offers unique conditions for investment, job creation, and contributing to the social and economic development of the region,” stated Cristina Zambrano, Executive Director of ACI Medellín.

“The arrival of Peruvian Fashion Tex in Medellín reflects the dynamism and international projection of Colombia’s textile sector. This investment strengthens a productive ecosystem that combines tradition, innovation, and talent, reaffirming Colombia as a reliable destination for companies seeking purposeful growth in Latin America. At ProColombia, we celebrate this partnership between Peru and Colombia, which contributes to regional economic development and productive integration between our countries,” said Carmen Caballero, President of ProColombia.

This new chapter reaffirms Medellín’s commitment to attracting quality investment, diversifying its economy, and opening its doors to international partners who, like PFTEX Colombia, believe in the city’s potential and choose to become active participants in its transformation.
