A delegation from Minas Gerais (Brazil), visited Medellín to strengthen international cooperation and to promote trade, business, investments and partnerships in the energy, biotechnology, medical equipment and STI sectors.
The Agency for Cooperation and Investment of Medellín – ACI Medellín, prepared a work agenda for the Brazilian investors. In the early hours of November 14, the director of Procolombia Medellín, Santiago Viera and the executive director of ACI Medellín, Sergio Escobar, presented the advances in economic development and investment opportunities of Colombia, Antioquia and Medellín. This meeting was held in the Electric Interconnection Company – ISA, and hosted by the president of the company, Bernando Vargas Gibsone.
Subsequently, some businessmen and members of the Government of Minas Gerais visited Ruta N ―Medellín’s Innovation and Business District― to learn about business opportunities in science and technology. It became an opportunity for Minas Gerais and Medellín to sign an understanding and collaboration agreement to work hand in hand on innovation projects in both cities.
Whilst several businessmen of the Brazilian delegation attended a business conference with Colombian executives of the mining sector at the Intercontinental Hotel, the Governor of Minas Gerais, Eduardo Pimentel, held a protocol meeting with the mayor of Medellín, Federico Gutiérrez Zuluaga, to strengthen relationships and generate synergies of joint work.
Likewise, Governor Pimentel met with his counterpart from Antioquia, Luis Pérez Gutiérrez, to share a cooperation proposal that seeks the production of wines by planting vineyards on coffee grounds.
