In its commitment to improving the condition of refugees and migrants, the District Administration signed a memorandum of understanding with UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees), through which it will receive technical assistance from this UN agency on international protection issues for those arriving from or transiting through Venezuela and other countries.

“We signed the memorandum of understanding with UNHCR to promote respect for the human rights of refugees and migrants and to work in a coordinated manner for their protection,” said the mayor of Medellín, Federico Gutiérrez Zuluaga.

This collaboration includes aspects such as the prevention of internal displacement; consolidation of institutional capacities to identify, give visibility to, and follow up on situations of forced displacement; and migratory regularization, among others.
