Máquinas Mestizas was born two years ago with the need to record sounds of nature for different uses. After its first experience with a hydrophone called Magma, this enterprise, which combines science, technology and art, advances in the manufacture of new instruments to connect with the elements of nature, as well as artistic experiences, laboratories, curatorships and festivals. Máquinas Mestizas is one of the enterprises from Medellín that will be part of the mission that will travel to France to participate in training, mentoring, connections and meetings with international leaders in the creative sector.
This incentive is part of the CreaColombia program, a binational initiative that seeks to strengthen the cultural and creative industries through training, the development of sustainable business models and strategic connections between Colombian entrepreneurs and key players in France.
Out of 500 proposals, 20 were selected throughout Colombia, who underwent an intensive training process. Of these, 10 finalists were chosen and will travel to France between March and April of this year. The three initiatives from Medellin are Macradecor, Selva y Flora and Máquinas Mestizas.
During the presentation of the certificates, the effort and creativity of the entrepreneurs was highlighted, who will have the opportunity to strengthen their projects with a view to international markets. The selected entrepreneurs are part of sectors such as design, handicrafts, video games and digital creation.
This initiative of the French Institute of Colombia is in line with the District’s strategy to consolidate Medellin as a creative capital, articulating and strengthening the ecosystem to promote creative industries as a key driver for cultural, social and economic development. Medellin has 5,928 formal companies in this sector, which manage assets of $ 3.3 billion and annual revenues of $ 4.4 billion.
The delivery of certificates is part of the visit of the French ambassador, Sylvain Itté, to Medellín, where he is strengthening the bilateral relationship, consolidating cooperation ties and advancing strategic projects in economic, cultural and social areas.
