ACI Medellín and the Chamber of Commerce Promote New Investment Opportunities for Agribusiness and Life Sciences

The agribusiness and life sciences sectors are making progress in developing a strategy to strengthen their competitiveness and attract foreign investment that meets the real needs of their supply chains. Thanks to the joint efforts of ACI Medellín and Cámara de Comercio de Medellín para Antioquia, through their clusters, two strategic studies were developed that identify opportunities to promote new investment projects, strengthen local suppliers, and generate greater productive capacity in the region.

We are sharing with you the final documents resulting from a series of workshops held with business leaders from both sectors, during which the main weak links in the value chains were identified, along with opportunities where Foreign Direct Investment can have the greatest impact. This work enabled us to develop sector-specific analyses, heat maps, and a database of prioritized companies that will serve as a foundation for guiding the international promotion of Medellín and Antioquia toward projects with high development potential.
In the agribusiness sector, the analysis highlights the diversity of agroindustrial activities, their capacity to generate employment, and the potential to incorporate new technologies, strengthen production processes, and promote business value chains that increase regional competitiveness. Meanwhile, the study of the life sciences sector highlights the strengths of the pharmaceutical, medical device, cosmetics, and specialized scientific services ecosystems, positioning Medellín and Antioquia as a region capable of attracting high-value-added investments.
The publication of these studies reflects the commitment of ACI Medellín and the Medellín Chamber of Commerce for Antioquia to strengthening the region’s strategic sectors. Based on information developed collaboratively with the business sector, these tools will make it possible to identify more specialized investment opportunities, connect international companies with the needs of the local business community, and continue to drive the economic development of Medellín and Antioquia.
