Medellín is preparing to host Climate Week Biodiversity 2026, an international event that will take place from September 28 to October 10, with the main program running from September 28 to October 1. The program will bring together different sectors to address biodiversity, climate action, innovation, and sustainable development.
The event will feature partners from seven strategic categories. Local government representatives will include the Medellín Mayor’s Office, the Aburrá Valley Metropolitan Area, and ACI Medellín; while international organizations such as the UN, WWF, ICLEI, C40, GIZ, GGGI, and CAF will contribute their expertise and global perspective.

Also participating will be companies such as SURA, EPM, KPMG, and Grupo Aval; academic institutions such as Los Andes, CES, and EAN; and actors from the innovation ecosystem such as Ruta N, Parque Explora, and the Medellín Planetarium. In addition to these categories, the event will include international cooperation agencies and embassies, as well as organizations from the social sector, including Comfama, ISA, and Proantioquia.

Acting Secretary of the Environment Elizabeth Coral emphasized that “Climate Week Biodiversity 2026 is an opportunity to demonstrate that biodiversity is not an issue exclusive to any one sector. In Medellín, we are bringing together governments, international organizations, companies, academia, innovation, cooperation, and social organizations to discuss, share experiences, and create opportunities centered on the protection of our natural heritage. This diversity of partners also reflects the city’s ability to connect with the world and generate actions that can extend beyond the event.”

The event is organized by the Medellín Mayor’s Office, in partnership with Impact Hub Medellín, Fundación Socya, the Climate Week Network, and ACI Medellín. Additionally, Portafolio Verde, a partner of Climate Week Biodiversity 2026, will be responsible for measuring the event’s carbon footprint, with the aim of identifying and quantifying the impacts associated with its organization and providing information to strengthen sustainability efforts.
