The company in question is DiMuto, a global agri-fintech firm, which is strengthening its presence in Latin America with a recent financing deal with the Colombian fresh produce exporter Montana Fruits. Under the agreement, DiMuto will first use its AI-powered financing solution to fund Montana Fruits’ exports to Europe, before expanding to its other export markets, such as the United States and Asia.
DiMuto Financial Services provides data-backed, AI-powered trade finance solutions to agri-food companies engaged in international trade. The solution uses real-time transactional data on product quality, on-time delivery, and payment status.
For its part, Montana Fruits is a Colombian packer and exporter of high-quality fresh produce, including Hass avocados and tropical fruits such as gulupa and Tahiti lemons. The company’s main market is in Europe, with promising markets including the United States and Asia. Montana Fruits processes approximately 400 containers per year and exports fresh produce worth more than $7 million.
“We are grateful to have DiMuto as our financial partner. Its expertise, experience, and commitment to providing financing for the agri-food trade are invaluable to our business. With its support, we can continue to grow our export operations and reach new markets,” said Mauricio Moranth Zuluaga, General Manager of Montana Fruits and a member of the Board of Directors of the Colombia Avocado Board (CAB).
The data-driven supply chain visibility created by DiMuto also provides meaningful insights into sustainability through DiMuto’s sustainability management dashboard. With its ability to track every box of produce from the field to the table, DiMuto can accurately estimate the carbon footprint of agri-food companies. This data related to sustainability metrics can also be made available to financiers, who can now conduct due diligence with data visibility and ensure that the funds invested align with sustainability goals.
“Data-driven, actionable financing is a key focus of DiMuto’s mission to redefine global trade. We want to ensure we have on-the-ground visibility into the companies we finance as they make progress on their sustainability journey. That’s why we’re very pleased to announce the financing agreement with Montana Fruits,” said Gary Loh, founder and CEO of DiMuto.
