More than 100 events have already been put forward to form part of the official programme for Climate Week Medellín 2026

The capital of Antioquia remains an international benchmark for climate action thanks to the progress made by Climate Week Medellín 2026, the event that will, for the first time, bring this format to the Global South. Between 28 September and 10 October, the city will bring together leaders from government, business, academia, civil society organisations, international bodies and the general public to drive forward an agenda aimed at accelerating solutions to climate change and the protection of biodiversity.

“We are hosting Climate Week and hosting numerous discussions on sustainability. A growing city like Medellín can become a beacon for others. There is leadership, evidence of territorial transformation and constructive dialogue between the various sectors – civil society, academia, the business community and, of course, local government. We are setting an example through this commitment, which is taking root in the city thanks to our collaboration with academia,” said the Secretary for the Environment, Marcela Ruiz.

“We have over 100 side events proposed by all these organisations. Proposals can include panels, conferences, site visits, etc. Some companies have told us they want to organise a site visit so that attendees can learn about the initiatives we are undertaking in relation to climate action. There are organisations, social groups and educational institutions that have said, ‘We want you to come and find out what young people are discussing or learn about the climate projects we’re working on.’ The social programme is very important, but we also want all those mayors and multilateral organisations that will be here to get to know the city and all its strengths,” said Verónica de Vivero, director of the Socya Foundation. “We are hosting Climate Week and hosting numerous discussions on sustainability. The call for side events remains open and welcomes proposals for discussions, panel discussions, workshops, city tours, cultural experiences, innovation labs, academic meetings and community spaces that will enhance the official programme.

Climate Week Medellín 2026 will transform the city into a platform for forging partnerships, exchanging knowledge and accelerating solutions that help tackle environmental challenges, from a collaborative and innovative perspective, thereby consolidating Medellín’s international leadership in sustainability. Organisations interested in submitting their events can complete the registration process via the official Climate Week Medellín website.
