Semana de la Moda en Colombia

The textile, clothing and design cluster is one of the most important sectors for Medellín’s economy. That is why, in 2006, Colombiamoda was linked through the Agency for Cooperation and Investment of Medellín and the Metropolitan Area – ACI Medellín, to become one of the most important fairs of the textile sector in Latin America.

The concept for this year is called ‘ New Game’, and it invites entrepreneurs to adopt innovative technologies and methodologies that facilitates the understanding of customers and markets, as fashion continues to grow in Colombia and reinvents itself every day in every way.

It is worth to mention that a fashion show during Colombiamoda, will mark the end of the first Colombia-France Cycle of 2017. This is the most ambitious cooperation between Colombia and France, as both countries are living a historical moment with remarkable exchanges. The pact between Colombia and France involves a wide diversity in cultural, scientific and commercial sectors.

The event, which will take place on July 25-27 in Plaza Mayor, Medellín, will allow entrepreneurs from the E Culture program (Cultura E) to showcase their products to visitors, journalists and buyers from around the world. On its 28th edition, Colombiamoda will continue to promote business, fashion and knowledge; and will also be the perfect space for networking with entrepreneurs within fashion business.

Contribution of fairs to the international positioning of Medellín

The most dynamic economic sectors of Medellín have helped position the city worldwide. Therefore, every year, the Mayor’s Office of Medellín supports fairs and events that stimulate the economy of the city through ACI Medellín.

ACI Medellín, the Medellín Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Secretary of Economic Development of Medellín, and Plaza Mayor have prepared a transformation tour around the places that represent Medellín’s resilience for foreign journalists who attend Colombiamoda. This Monday, July 24, we will make a city tour to show Medellín’s integrated transportation system, Arví Park and the Silleteros culture of the region in Santa Elena.
